La campagne Public Money? Public Code! vise à faire du Logiciel Libre le standard pour les logiciels financés par l'argent public. Les administrations publiques suivant ce principe peuvent bénéficier de collaborations avec d'autres entités publiques, se rendre indépendantes d'éditeurs privés, économiser des impôts, participer à l'innovation et se construire une base plus saine pour la sécurité de leur système d'information.

Ce sont plus de 170 sociétés civiles et plus de 26 000 individus qui ont répondu à l'appel de la Free Software Foundation Europe en signant sa Lettre ouverte . Nous utiliserons ces signatures pour contacter les décisionnaires et les représentants politiques partout en Europe, et les convaincre de faire du code public le standard. Weshalb wird durch Steuergelder finanzierte Software nicht als Freie Software (Open Source) veröffentlicht? Wir wollen rechtliche Grundlagen, die es erfordern, dass mit öffentlichen Geldern für öffentliche Verwaltungen entwickelte Software unter einer Freie-Software- und Open-Source Lizenz veröffentlicht wird. Wenn es sich um öffentliche Gelder handelt, sollte auch der Code öffentlich sein. Von allen bezahlter Code sollte für alle verfügbar sein!

Die Public Money? Public Code!-Initiative zielt darauf ab, Freie Software als Standard für öffentlich finanzierte Software zu etablieren. Öffentliche Verwaltungen, die diesem Prinzip folgen, können von zahlreichen Vorteilen profitieren: Zusammenarbeit mit anderen staatlichen Stellen, Unabhängigkeit von einzelnen Anbietern, möglichen Steuerersparnisse, Innovationsförderung und einer solideren Grundlage für IT-Sicherheit.

Die Free Software Foundation Europe unterzeichnete zusammen mit über 170 zivilgesellschaftlichen Organisationen und mehr als 26.000 Privatpersonen den Offenen Brief. Wir werden diese Unterschriftensammlung dazu nutzen, politische Akteure und Entscheider davon zu überzeugen, öffentlichen Code zum Standard zu machen. Wir laden Sie dazu ein, ebenfalls zu unterschreiben, um diesem Vorhaben damit noch mehr Nachdruck zu verleihen!

Why is software created using taxpayers' money not released as Free Software? We want legislation requiring that publicly financed software developed for the public sector be made publicly available under a Free and Open Source Software licence. If it is public money, it should be public code as well. Code paid by the people should be available to the people!
