Wouldn't that depend on the exact make of the modem?
At least, I know that for Wifi access points, some brands use a
different Mac for their ethernet connector than for the wireless
interface, whereas other brands use twice the same.
If the cable modem uses a different Mac for its cable interface, it
might indeed be somewhat hard to find out, unless it is printed
somewhere on the modem or in its documentation.
