Hello all!
I just wanted to now: How do you use Linux?
Hye,
Installed on a desktop PC and a laptop.
I use it as often as possible: mail, office tasks, ssh, internet,
digital photographie, web pages, radio stream, ... everything.
Also used on servers with the "LLL-distribution" installed.
I sometimers use Windows XP with special software, for which I didnt
find a Linux equivalent yet, as "Arles Webpage Image Creator" for
example.
Do you have it installed on your personal computer?
Wich distribution do you use? Why?
I have it installed on a personal Desktop, a personal laptop
and 2 servers in Primary Schools.
I use the actual version of SUSE LINUX, version 9.2., as it is very
easy and rapid to install, good Hardware detection, simple installs via
rpm (but not always!), a lot of languages, good help pages, ...
A friend of mine recommended it, it was ok and I never took the time
trying another distro...
Knoppix tested also, its nice to see how the Hardware is detected.
Have you tried other distributions?
Except SUSE LINUX and Knoppix, no other.
And perhaps: how long do you use Linux?
About 1 year nearly, so I'm a "Newbie" :-))
thank you.
Wishing you and everybody else a very nice and pleasant new
year 2005!

My answer:
I have a dual boot XP-Mandrake 10.1 on my PC. Just bought the Mandrake
10.1 DVD, a few months ago. and i'm very satisfied with it.
I'm on Linux for about 2.5 years. and i never used an other distribution
than mandrake. And i don't plan to use a other in a close future.
