I *fully* agree. This also remembers me my T-Online days. I always used
Linux with PPPoE. The day I couldn't connect anymore, I *tried* to
install the official T-Online software on my Windows partition because
the helpdesk said they would not support Linux. But the official
software refused to run on my hardware configuration. And it was a
problem on their side, because the modem's light was red. But they
refused to help if you don't run Windows even if it is clear that the
problem lies on their side.
If I have problems like that under Unix I keep telling them YES MR
OPERATOR I "DO" USE WINDOWS and YES my CABLES ARE PLUGGED in...
It is all about cheating a little bit and usually you get rather far...
