Hello all!
I just wanted to now: How do you use Linux?
Office, work, laptop, PDA, ...
Do you have it installed on your personal computer?
I have at home a raid-5 server, plus a raid-5 workstation. My wife has
one also. She has also a laptop. All are running SuSE Linux.
I have also an old host running Debian.
Wich distribution do you use? Why?
First, I used Slackware, because I didn't know any other distro (back in
1994).
Then, I tried RedHat and used it at both home and work because of it's
much more user friendly (and it allowed me to have my HP printer
configured easily).
Then, because of the increasing price of RedHat, I switched to SuSE in
2000 and I'm still using SuSE at the moment.
Have you tried other distributions?
I tried Debian, Mandrake and FreeBSD, plus JDS. I also tried other OSes
at home such as Solaris and OS/2.
And perhaps: how long do you use Linux ?
Couldn't remember, but the first version I saw was on two floppies: one
for the system and one for the data. It didn't supported yet the hard
disks at that time... It should be in early 1993, I guess...
thank you.
