Hi,
I was very surprised to learn that Skype (VoIP software) is at
home in Luxembourg.
If you check http://www.skype.com/company.html , you'll find
that "The Skype Group is headquartered in Luxembourg with offices
also in London and soon in Tallinn."
Might be interesting if you play around with VoIP...

Luxembourg From the looks of it, it also seems that the lux.
headquarters
aren't much more than a drop-box (job offers are for Tallinn
and London only). Kind of like AOL, MS, Apple iTunes Europe
probably.

I've played around with Skype quite a bit at work. It is very slick! It uses
http for all data transfers, so it will make it through most firewalls
without a problem (even works around proxies). The voice quality was
startlingly good, especially considering that we have a 1Mbps ADSL line with
no QoS configured on it.
However, the really cool thing about it is that they are now offering phone
calls to normal phone lines throughout Europe at very competitive prices.

True indeed, I have skypeout credit and tested it quite extensively. I
failed on making calls to a Luxie Mobile Phone which was a bit
dissapointing but all the fixed line stuff worked more or less great.
The not so great things are really LOUD noises when the line "breaks".
Apart from that I find it cool that it uses an Existing p2p network and
that it encrypts 256bit by default, no possibility to go back to plain
text :)

This kind of things happened to me as well with my Internet-triggered
plain phone calls provider, bestnetcall (http://www.bestnetcall.com)
The problem was that the first '0' that starts mobile phone numbers in
Luxembourg perturbed their system. Few countries, especially in Europe,
keep the first '0' when called from abroad. I just dropped them an
e-mail to explain the technical issue, and they promptly fixed their system.
Maybe you should try this with Skype as well...
