Hello
I like to speak about Spamassassin.
I use it now for ~3 months. The first two months, spam wasn't always detected,
but the detection rate grows from time to time (of course, I did a sa-learn
bla).
A month now, spam is correctly detected, with a quota of >99%. Spam is
redirected in a folder, and I regulary do a sa-learn...).
So it works very good for me.
That's all I wanna say.

Following a study published in France, SpamAssassin represents more than
50% of the antispam software market and has a satisfaction rate close to
90%.
We install it at our customer's premises with high satisfaction rate.
Tuning is however required (white lists, ...)

Does SpamAssassin only work with an... MTA (such as PostFix) or does it
also work if I use an MUA (e.g. Evolution or KMail) ?
Does it also work under windoze (esp. with OE)?

You have to collect SPAM mail in a directory, where you point your 'tuning'
to. So, it builds a blacklist. Of course, you can also build a whitelist.
What Spamassassin does is adding a header describing that the mail is spam.
With a filter, you could simply filter these messages into a special folder.

SpamAssassin also has a very powerfull feature: the AutoWhiteList,
meaning that even if a mail that looks as a spam comes from somebody
that usually send non-spam mails, it will pass through without being
flagged as spam.
This auto-adaptative feature is really powerfull and leads to a very
high rate of accurancy after some weeks of usage.

I'd be very interested...
What you do there usually is to get your mails to the local box using
fetchmail, and have procmail call up SpamAssassin on your mails.
This is comparatively inefficient though.

We always install it on postfix, so it is triggered by an MTA. You can
probably use it on existing local e-mails. Check the doc for details.
